Director
Margaret Wagner Dahl is the Director of Research Development
and Technology Alliances at the University of Georgia, a
position created and supported in collaboration with the
Georgia Research Alliance. In this role, she serves concurrently
as the director of The
Georgia BioBusiness Center. Prior to coming to UGA in July
1999, she was director of operations at the Austin Technology
Incubator as well as the director of technology relations
at Jenkens and Gilchrist, a premier Austin law firm. Previously,
she was the assistant and acting director of the University
of Washington Office of Technology Transfer in Seattle.
Her career began with ten years of private sector experience
in the technology sector, including positions with multinational
pharmaceutical companies Pharmacia and Organanon Teknika.
She has also created two successful startup companies in
affiliation with the Irish Development Authority. In 2002,
Ms. Dahl was one of five finalists for the Woman of the
Year in Technology Awards sponsored by the Technology Association
of Georgia and Women in Technology.
Guiding Principles
The Center offers assistance in three areas:
- sharpening focus on customers, markets, channels and
stakeholders,
- facilitating connections to funding, partnership opportunities,
business expertise and University resources
- creating a positive business setting through physical
location, intellectual stimulation and personal relationships.
Georgia BioBusiness Center and UGARF
The Georgia BioBusiness Center is funded by UGA resources
as part of UGAs commitment to economic development
involving the University's research enterprise. The Georgia
BioBusiness Center was created to accelerate the growth
and sustainability of Athens-based bioscience startup companies
through a residential program structured and supported by
UGA.
Location
The Georgia BioBusiness Center is located at 111 Riverbend
Road, off of College Station Road, just past the bi-pass
and diagonally across from UGAs Animal Dairy Sciences
building.
